913 North Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills, IL, 60061

CoreBuilt Contracting recently completed a new Mendocino Farms location at Mellody Farm in Vernon Hills, Illinois, one of the brand’s first in the Chicago market.

The 3,520 sf buildout transformed an existing first-floor space into a vibrant, modern dining destination near the center’s outdoor courtyard. Designed to support both efficient operations and a welcoming guest experience, the finished space reflects Mendocino Farms’ signature look and feel. This project stands as one of CoreBuilt’s most recently completed restaurant builds.

3649 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60613

CoreBuilt Contracting served as the general contractor for Hattie B’s first Illinois location, delivering a 3,265 sf restaurant just steps from Wrigley Field. The project converted an existing shell into a fully operational, high-volume fast-casual restaurant with finishes and features consistent with Hattie B’s brand standards.

The restaurant accommodates 125 guests, including 70 indoors and 55 on a 515‑square-foot outdoor patio. Retractable walls and windows create a flexible indoor-outdoor dining experience. CoreBuilt worked closely with ownership and City of Chicago authorities to deliver the project on schedule within the Gallagher Way development.

211 Kenilworth Ave., Kenilworth, IL 60043

CoreBuilt Contracting is completing a major renovation and expansion of the 36,300 sf, 130+ year-old KUC campus, including construction of a new 8,825 sf addition alongside renovations throughout the existing facility, sitework, landscaping, and exterior improvements.

The project includes extensive upgrades to educational and administrative spaces throughout the campus, with renovations to 15 classrooms and 4 offices across the existing church facility. Demolition of the former Manse building made way for a new wing featuring a grand lobby with staircase and elevator, chapels, meeting rooms, a music room, and multipurpose children’s areas.

Renovations within the existing church include the West Wing, East Wing, & administrative office areas. Demolition uncovered structural deficiencies and water damage in previously renovated areas, which were incorporated into the scope. A key feature of the renovation is a new glass-walled conference room at the main entry, providing a method to showcase four previously hidden stained glass windows while highlighting the church’s historic character.

1617 North Damen Avenue, Chicago, IL

We’re excited to share a look inside the newly completed Hotel Chocolat location in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. CoreBuilt Contracting served as the general contractor for this 2,930 sf interior build-out, transforming an existing commercial space into a warm, refined retail environment that reflects Hotel Chocolat’s premium brand. The project features a dining and service area, new restrooms and storage spaces, custom partitions and ceilings, upgraded lighting, new flooring and wall finishes, and a complete storefront replacement. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were also modified to support the new design and operational needs.

1139 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting is proud to unveil the transformation of the historic Wilmette Train Station—originally built over 150 years ago—into a new Small Cheval location for Hogsalt. This 2,280-square-foot gut-rehab was all about balance: honoring the building’s historic charm while crafting a modern, inviting space that reflects the nostalgic Small Cheval brand.

3232 Lake Avenue, Wilmette, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting served as general contractor for the interior visual department buildout of Wayfair’s first brick-and-mortar store. This large-format, 150,000 sf location anchors Edens Plaza in Wilmette, Illinois. The store features a broad assortment of home furnishings, with CoreBuilt constructing vignettes and displays across the Bathroom, Kitchen, Bedroom, Living, Home Office, Outdoor, and Appliance departments. CoreBuilt’s ongoing partnership with Wayfair includes multiple return engagements to update and build new seasonal holiday displays—ensuring the store remains dynamic and engaging year-round.

Multiple Projects - Illinois and Indiana

CoreBuilt Contracting has partnered with Ashley HomeStore on multiple projects. beginning with the transformation of the former Toys R Us site into a 50,000 sf retail store in Gurnee, Illinois. Beyond the building renovation, CoreBuilt also completed site work around Ashley Furniture and Texas Roadhouse, further enhancing the overall development. The interior renovation delivered a modern shopping experience aligned with Ashley’s corporate design standards, including updated layouts, enhanced ceilings and lighting, new finishes, and upgraded electrical and data systems.

Building on this success, CoreBuilt is currently working on the Ashley HomeStore Distribution Center in Plainfield, Indiana. The project includes dock and parking lot expansions, site improvements, and extensive landscaping, enhancing both functionality and the overall appearance of the surrounding property.

Multiple Locations

CoreBuilt Contracting has completed multiple projects for Guzman y Gomez, delivering consistent, brand-driven environments across several locations.

The Deerfield project transformed a former retail space into a vibrant restaurant with a redesigned layout, modern interior, and optimized kitchen and dining areas. Additional locations in Evanston and Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood were executed with the same attention to detail and alignment with brand standards.

CoreBuilt also completed an office build-out in Evanston and continues to support regional locations, including maintenance work in Buffalo Grove and Crystal Lake—demonstrating a commitment to quality, consistency, and long-term partnership.

1171 Half Day Road, Bannockburn, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting completed the interior buildout of a new MKU Montessori Child Care Center in Bannockburn, Illinois. This 9,100 sf renovation transformed three existing outlot suites in Bannockburn into a cohesive, modern childcare facility that is designed specifically for young learners. The project delivered a cohesive, modern childcare facility that is thoughtfully designed to support early learning. The finished space that blends function and inspiration—purposefully built for creativity, development, and growth.

6050 Gurnee Mills Circle East, Gurnee, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting completed full site redevelopment of the former Toys “R” Us property in Gurnee, Illinois, to prepare for two national tenants: Texas Roadhouse and Ashley Furniture. Work included demolition, mass excavation, underground utility installation, site lighting, asphalt paving, concrete curbs and flatwork, drive aisles, and final landscaping. While tenant interior build-outs were managed separately, CoreBuilt handled all landlord-required foundational and structural site work.

CoreBuilt Contracting served as general contractor for the complete interior build-out of an American Mattress retail store, located within Elston Logan Plaza in Chicago. This project involved transforming a commercial space into a modern and welcoming retail environment tailored to showcase American Mattress’s product line.

Maintaining an efficient timeline and coordinating with vendors and suppliers was essential to ensuring an on-time and on-budget delivery. CoreBuilt’s retail build-out experience ensured a smooth process from initial planning through final inspection, resulting in a polished space aligned with the American Mattress brand.

1305 Lakeview Dr., Romeoville, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting completed a 22,000 sf interior renovation at Barry-Wehmiller’s Romeoville office. The initial phase transformed a 2,200 sf open office area into a new training center and added a kitchen and hospitality lounge. A year later, CoreBuilt returned to remodel an additional 20,000 sf, which included new offices, conference rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas. Updates featured a wellness room, expanded restrooms, and new finishes to create continuity throughout the space.

CoreBuilt Contracting has completed over 20 Sweetgreen locations across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.

Each build-out features unique finishes, kitchen and prep areas, manager’s offices, and customer seating tailored to the local community. As Sweetgreen expanded, the focus shifted from volume to efficiency—achieving 15–20% savings per build-out through design-build and value engineering without compromising brand aesthetics.

CoreBuilt’s Midwest presence now extends into Wisconsin and Indiana, including the completion of Wisconsin’s first Sweetgreen in Milwaukee and a recent build in Carmel, Indiana. These projects reflect our ability to deliver consistent, high-quality results across expanding markets.

4014 S. Ellis Ave., Chicago, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting built 4014 S. Ellis Apartments from the ground up on a formerly vacant lot in the Oakland neighborhood of Chicago. The new four-story, 17,260 sf residential building includes 12 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units with expansive layouts, 9-foot ceilings, and private balconies. Amenities include a rooftop patio with skyline views and a 12-car detached garage at the rear of the property.

1500 North Halsted Street, Chicago, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting served as the general contractor for the interior refresh of an 9,000 square foot Ethan Allen store located in the vibrant Old Town neighborhood of Chicago. This project included comprehensive demolition, meticulous carpentry, detailed millwork, as well as electrical work and painting, all designed to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space. Our team worked diligently to ensure that every detail met the high standards of the Ethan Allen brand, resulting in an inviting and sophisticated environment for customers.

Multiple Locations

CoreBuilt Contracting served as general contractor for two interior renovation projects for Blick Art Materials. The Chicago Loop location features an 8,030 sf two-story build-out that included updates to the store entry, main sales floor, basement sales floor, and office areas. Additional work involved upgrades to the exterior cargo lift and installation of a new rear interior/exterior door to improve access and functionality.

At the Lincoln Park location, CoreBuilt expanded the custom framing shop to accommodate increased demand for framing services in the market.

7574 Lincoln Ave., Skokie, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting completed an interior renovation of the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago’s facility, a nonprofit organization based in Skokie. The project included a revised layout, updated finishes, and upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Delivered under an open-book proposal, subcontractor costs were fully transparent, and general conditions were provided at a negotiated fixed rate.

Westchester, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting completed the transformation of a single-story residence into a new Aspire Community Home in Westchester, Illinois. The renovation focused on creating a welcoming, functional, and accessible environment tailored to the needs of Aspire’s residents. The updated home includes a refreshed living room, dining area, modern kitchen, office, laundry room, five bedrooms, and two bathrooms—supporting inclusive living and personal independence.

1320 N Meacham Rd, Schaumburg, IL

The first ever “sweetlane” concept location is now open in Schaumburg, Illinois. Exterior and interior modifications were completed to an existing building and the new format features a drive-through window for advanced orders, bringing the in-store experience to digital customers. CoreBuilt is proud of the relationship we have built with sweetgreen.

2042 N. Halsted St., Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting served as design-build contractor for a 2,180 sf interior build-out of Rock N Rags in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. This boutique retail project reflects the brand’s signature style and fashion-forward appeal. The design-build approach provided an efficient and collaborative experience, ensuring the space reflects the brand’s identity while optimizing functionality for both customers and staff.

8111 St. Louis Ave., Skokie, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting served as general contractor for a 3-phase remodel and expansion of Azul 3D’s facility in Skokie. This warehouse is a production and assembly facility supporting their proprietary High Area Rapid Printing (HARP) technology.The project was completed in an occupied space and included construction of a 3D printing analytical lab, manufacturing space, office areas, kitchen, and breakroom—all with updated HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

CoreBuilt Contracting has completed multiple new store build-outs for Philz Coffee, supporting their expansion from California into the Midwest.

One standout project was an 1,840 sf interior renovation in Evanston, Illinois. During demolition, CoreBuilt uncovered historic brickwork and original bow truss ceilings that had been hidden behind layers of past construction. After reviewing the discovery with the Philz team, the decision was made to restore and showcase these elements. The exposed brick and wood beams now serve as key design features, creating a warm, old-coffee-house feel that aligns perfectly with the Philz brand and enhances the character of the space.

4711 Golf Rd., Suite 912, Skokie, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting served as general contractor for a 2,000 sf interior remodel of the Stein Center for Advanced Dentistry in Skokie, Illinois. The work was performed in an occupied medical space and required minimal disruption to staff and patients while the practice remained open. CoreBuilt proposed design options and product selections tailored to the client’s needs and developed a five-phase construction plan to minimize disruption. Work was completed during nights and weekends, including all move-in and move-out of furniture and equipment.

Scope included remodeling operatory rooms and replacing the vacuum and air system. Originally hired to replace flooring and baseboards, CoreBuilt was later awarded additional phases of work. The updated space now reflects a clean, modern look in line with the Stein Center’s mission of “uncompromising excellence in dentistry.”

4210 N. Western Ave., Chicago, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting served as general contractor for a 2,070 sf interior build-out of Itsy Bitsy Play & Café in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood. Located within an occupied five-story building, the space includes an indoor play area with polished concrete flooring, a café, and co-working space—designed to provide a shared environment for both children and parents.

75 Executive Dr., Aurora, IL

CoreBuilt Contracting was hired by Boxer Property Management to serve as general contractor for an 11,600 sf design-build project for their tenant, Aceyus, Inc. The interior renovation included a mix of private offices, a large break room, an IT server room with a dedicated HVAC system, and a fire suppression system. The project required significant demolition, including the removal of existing walls, carpeting, plumbing, and electrical systems. CoreBuilt also installed a new private bathroom, which involved coring and running piping through multiple occupied office suites.

By partnering with the tenant early in the process, CoreBuilt provided design input, value engineering, and a complete design-build proposal at a fixed price. Collaborating with an architect previously familiar with the building helped accelerate the planning and permitting process once the contract was awarded.

CoreBuilt Contracting completed a medical office build-out for Orthopedics & Rheumatology of the North Shore, located in an occupied medical building in Skokie, Illinois. The project included the construction of patient exam rooms, private offices, and support spaces, as well as the installation of a lead-lined x-ray room to meet specialized imaging requirements. All work was completed with close attention to healthcare compliance standards, infection control protocols, and coordination with building management to minimize disruption to surrounding tenants.

CoreBuilt Contracting completed multiple projects at the Moss, Inc. headquarters in Franklin Park, Illinois, ranging in size from $5,000 to $750,000.

Recent work included two new offices, a sound-controlled compressor room, and relocation of a paint booth adjacent to newly constructed areas.
